“Kingdom Hearts 3” isn’t expected to hit the shelves until Jan. 25 2019, but Square Enix has already shared a lot of details in the past few months. Here’s everything that has been revealed so far.
At the moment, Square Enix has only shared a rather vague description of “Kingdom Hearts 3’s” plot, but game director Tetsuya Nomura has already confirmed that the sequel is set after the events of “Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.” That means Sora has just lost most of his power when “Kingdom Hearts 3” begins and he is heading to Olympus Coliseum to find a way to get it back.
Aside from the “Hercules’” Olympus Coliseum, other worlds confirmed for the game includes the Kingdom of Arendelle from “Frozen,” the Kingdom of Corona from “Tangled,” Port Royal from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Monstropolis from “Monsters, Inc.,” and San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6.” Twilight Town and Yen Sid's Mysterious Tower are in the game as well.
Once again, an all-star cast of voice actors is lending their talents to “Kingdom Hearts 3.” Haley Joel Osment is back to voice Sora, while Tony Anselmo and Bill Farmer continue to provide the voice of Donald Duck and Goofy, respectively.
Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff are also voicing their “Frozen” characters – Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff. Rounding out the list of confirmed voice actors are Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy as Flynn Rider and Mother Gothel from “Tangled,” Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and John Ratzenberger and Wallace Shawn as Hamm and Rex from “Toy Story.”
Meanwhile, Hikaru Utada is teaming up with Skrillex for the game’s opening theme song. The song is scheduled to come out ahead of “Kingdom Hearts 3’s” release. In other news, those who want to play the series from the start may want to check out “Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far.” The bundle contains all nine previously released “Kingdom Hearts” titles and it is available exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
