Krispy Kreme Japan has partnered once again with Sesame Street to release new flavors featuring the famous characters - Elmo and Cookie Monster. In addition, the donut and coffeehouse chain is also adding a wasabi-flavored treat to its donut lineup.
The Sesame Street donut collection will only be available for a limited time and is coming to Krispy Kreme stores in Japan this spring. As per Sora News24, this is the second time that the donut brand is releasing Sesame Street-themed treats, as they have already collaborated in 2019 and introduced donuts featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird.
But this time, the eight-foot two-inch tall bright yellow bird is not making an appearance in the sweet collection. The Elmo-themed donut will be red and covered in tart strawberry icing. The Cookie Cream & Cookie Monster donut offers a cacao-blended chocolate dough coated in caramel and topped with vanilla cream, chocolate chip cookie and sprinkles.
For the wasabi donut, Krispy Kreme placed sesame-scented crackers and brown rice puffs on top of the wasabi cream-covered donut. The toppings add crunch and make the donut look very appealing. Then again, customers were informed that the Wasabi Cream donut would only be sold in one location, and the chain chose the branch in Tokyo International Forum.
All of these special flavors are coming to Krispy Kreme stores in Japan on April 19, and they will only be sold until the last week of May. For the Wasabi variant, it will only be in one store brand and will be available until May 7.
The new Krispy Kreme Sesame Street and Wasabi Cream donuts would retail for ¥324 or about $2.48 each for takeout and a bit more expensive for dine-in as the price would be ¥330 except for the Chocolate Chip Cookie donut, which will be just ¥291 for takeout and ¥297 for dine-in.
Finally, TimeOut reported that customers who would like to buy a box of Sesame Street donuts could have it for a dozen at ¥2,592 (takeout) and ¥2,640 for dine-in. Half a dozen of this special character flavor is priced t ¥1,544 and ¥1,573 for take-out and dine-in, respectively.
