Lee Min Ho has been confirmed to star in “The King: The Eternal Monarch” as its lead actor. He was the first cast to be announced after famed writer Kim En Sook revealed about her new work.
A few weeks after, “Goblin” actress Kim Go Eun was named as the lead actress. This will be her second big project after the monstrous success of “Goblin” which she starred in with Lee Dong Wook and Gong Yoo.
Now, the third cast member to join Lee Min Ho in his comeback drama was revealed to be the rising actor Woo Do Hwan. Based on the initial reports, he will be one of the major actors in “The King: The Eternal Monarch,” Allkpop reported.
Just like Min Ho and Go Eun, he will also play two characters - the first as Jo Eun Seop, a social service worker in modern Korea and in the ancient times, he will serve as the king’s bodyguard. “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is a fantasy drama that features a parallel concept thus, the characters have to play dual roles in two different time eras.
Lee Min Ho will play Emperor Lee Gon. He will discover about the door that leads to modern-day Korea and will ask the people from the present time help him seal the door so they will be at peace. Apparently, the way to the “new world” is dangerous as bad people from the olden times may want to cross it for ill intentions.
Min Ho was the first choice for this drama written by Kim Eun Sook, who also penned “Heirs” and “Descendants of the Sun.” She is considered as the Korean entertainment’s best screenwriter and in fact, many actors dream of starring in a drama or movie she wrote because all of them turned out to be blockbusters.
Lee Min Ho and the rest of the cast are expected to begin filming soon so the rest of the actors who will play a role in “The King: The Eternal Monarch” would be named soon. The drama has been set to be released in 2020.
