‘Lucifer’ season 2’s episode 11, titled "Stewardess Interruptus,” is set to follow Charlotte as she launches her diabolical plan to use Chloe, who was revealed to be a miracle baby, to her own advantage as she continues to get her son back.
The promo for episode 11 opens to Charlotte telling her son, “There’s something important we need to discuss.” Lucifer looks at her in suspicion asking, “What have you done this time?”
In the next scene, Charlotte tells Maze, “God made Chloe. She’s a miracle.” She sits at the bar with a disgusted expression on her face. Charlotte then engages Chloe in a conversation telling her straight how her son is different around her.
Finally, Amenadiel confronts Charlotte saying, “Manipulating Lucifer and Chloe toward each other for our own gain… are we no better than Father?” Charlotte retorts that God started everything anyway. By the end of the promo, Chloe is distressed as she looks at her bleeding nose from the mirror and tells Lucifer, “Something’s wrong. It won’t stop.”
A recap from the A.V. Club of the preceding episode, titled "Quid Pro Ho," reported that Charlotte would have successfully killed Chloe if not for Amenadiel’s threats of Lucifer’s vengeance. Lucifer learned that his mother attempted to kill Chloe but was forced to turn his attention to the trial of John Decker's murder.
When Amenadiel met Chloe’s mother Penelope, he remembered her and her husband John when he was sent by God to assist in a miracle 35 years back. This miracle allowed Penelope to have Chloe, thus her being called a “miracle baby.” Amenadiel then revealed to Charlotte that Lucifer’s entry to Earth and eventual meeting with Chloe was already predestined.
Co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich addressed Chloe’s actual back story during an interview with TV Line saying, “If we wanted to put a nice little label on Chloe, I think she is, definitely, a miracle… because she wasn’t supposed to be born.”
Modrovich explained, “We try to make it always about our character’s interpretation about what God’s trying to do, instead of stating clearly, ‘This is what God was doing,’… The way I look at is, yeah, Lucifer is the Prince of Darkness, but if he did start off as God’s favorite son, is this a chance at redemption for him? Is this God saying, ‘Let’s see what you do with this, son’?”
She hinted, “We will definitely find out how she plans to use Chloe, right away… And since we know Mom will stop at nothing to get back her family, which includes Lucifer, she’s going to use Lucifer’s feelings against him. She’s going to weaponize those feelings, putting the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe in major jeopardy.”
‘Lucifer’ season 2’s episode 11, titled "Stewardess Interruptus," is scheduled to air on Fox on January 16, 2017. It was directed by Greg Beeman and written by Sheri Elwood. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "Love Handles," directed by Karen Gaviola.
