Manny Pacquiao: Will a big match happen this year? Boxing champ’s handlers want Pacman to fight before 2020 ends

Manny Pacquiao is one of the world’s best fighters in the ring and many popular boxers have expressed their interest to fight him. Some of them, who already had the chance to be in the ring with Pacman, want a rematch but deals are not pushing through.

Fans are also requesting to see Manny Pacquaio fight again and they are waiting for an announcement. Most people want to see a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. but such a deal has failed many times. This is because the fight between them was only more of a verbal declaration than really signing a contract for it to push through.

Manny’s team hoping for a game this year

Despite the fact that the world is facing a pandemic, it was reported that Manny Pacquiao’s team is hoping that the boxing legend would be able to fight before this year closes. They know that things are uncertain as the cases of coronavirus infraction around the world continue to rise but still, there is a possibility for the fight to happen when things get better.

“You got to remember there are a lot of things that have to happen,” Spin quoted Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, as saying. “And first of all, COVID-19 rapidly needs to slow down.”

Gibbons said that if Manny Pacquaio will fight again this year, it is likely to happen in the U.S. because the country remained the top market for a fight. He also mentioned that prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, there was an offer for a match in Saudi Arabia but the U.S. is still the best choice.

The president of the MP Promotions added that they only have five months left to make the Manny Pacquiao match happen. Still, they are unsure of they can do it and have Pacman, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion, fight.

Pacman’s possible opponents

Big Fight Weekend reported that there were speculations that Manny Pacquaio will meet Conor McGregor, a UFC Superstar, on the ring but there was no concrete detail about this supposed showdown. It was also mentioned that Errol Spence, IBF and WBC Welterweight Champion, is being pitted against the Filipino fighter for a match this year but because of the pandemic, the talks remained hanging.

Danny Garcia was also said to be one of the top contenders and finally, a rematch with Keith Thurman. However, up to now, there is no solid update that will confirm if Manny Pacquiao has been scheduled for a fight with Thurman or any other fighters out there.
