McDonald's latest collaboration with Studio Ghibli brings a special promo inspired by Kiki's Delivery Service, captivating fans of the iconic anime.
McDonald's History with Anime Promotions
While McDonald's has a history of working with various anime projects, its latest promotional campaign takes things to the next level by partnering with Kiki's Delivery Service!
Fans will probably remember Kiki's Delivery Service better as one of Hayao Miyazaki's most famous Studio Ghibli animated features, even though it was initially a book by Eiko Kadono. According to ComicBook.com, the enormous influence it had on Miyazaki's subsequent works, both on viewers and the director himself, is a significant reason why the picture is still cherished today.
Studio Ghibli decided to adapt Kiki's Delivery Service from the 1985 novel by Eiko Kadono into an animated picture that Hayao Miyazaki produced, wrote, and directed.
The Legacy of Kiki's Delivery Service
Despite Studio Ghibli's several outstanding works after Kiki's Delivery Service debuted, it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many anime fans and went on to become one of the most popular films in the company's history.
Dexerto also shares that apart from its many enjoyable collaborations with popular Japanese anime and media, McDonald's Japan has also produced its own anime for an American special event. Subsequently, the fast food giant has lately introduced a subtle update to Kiki's Delivery Service, reimagining the classic in a series of short animations.
