Melania Trump just showed the patients and staff of Maryland Children’s Hospital that they have her support by sending them lunch boxes this week. The research hospital was also affected by the coronavirus pandemic, so the FLOTUS is trying to cheer them up by sending food.
"Today, First Lady Melania Trump donated 150 boxed lunches to the patients and staff of The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health,” Fox News quoted former White House press secretary and now the FLOTUS’ spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, as saying in a statement. “Supporting those impacted by the effects of COVID-19 is something the First Lady cares deeply about and as we navigate these unique times she will continue to reach out to people in a variety of ways.”
The FLOTUS cares
Grisham said that Melania Trump donated the meals to the Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda. She added that the First Lady will continue to help people, especially in this time of crisis, in any way she can.
In any case, Jennie Lucca, the CEO of the Children's, told Newsweek that the lunch boxes sent by Trump include cookies, fruit, and mac & cheese. It was reported that it was the executive chef and the pastry chef of the White House who brought the lunch to the facility. They were assisted by other staff members and assured everyone that they practiced social distancing while distributing the food.
Appreciating the educators
Additionally, aside from giving out special lunch boxes to the frontliners, Melania Trump also showed her appreciation for teachers. To honor the teachers on National Teacher Day this week, she arranged for a series of telephone calls with some educators from different states.
On her Instagram, a photo of the First Lady while she makes calls has been posted, and she captioned this with a message that reads: “On #NationalTeacherDay I had the honor of speaking to some incredible teachers & educators from across our great nation.”
Finally, Melania Trump thanked the teachers for their dedication to the students, even in times of crisis. It was reported that the FLOTUS spoke with elementary, middle, and high school teachers both in public and private institutions.
