After weeks of no communication with King Charles, Prince Harry is set to call King Charles on his birthday. According to reports, the Duke of Sussex will phone his father on his 75th birthday, as the King keeps the celebrations to a minimum.
Prince Harry Expected to Reach Out to King Charles
Some experts regard Prince Harry's phone contact as an olive gesture, while others say it is long overdue following weeks of no communication between the two, Daily Express reported. This comes after rumors and counter-claims that Prince Harry refused or was not invited to the King's birthday party.
According to a representative for Prince Harry, “no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday.” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still "don't speak much" because of King Charles' "disappointment" with how Harry described his family life in his biography “Spare.”
A new report suggested the father and son haven't had any communication in recent weeks. It comes after King Charles invited Prince Harry to Balmoral in September to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's death anniversary, but the Duke chose to spend it in Windsor, according to the Sunday Times.
Since Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle stoop down as senior royals and went to California in 2020, duke’s relationship with the rest of the Royal Family has deteriorated. Following the couple's shocking revelations in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry released his memoir “Spare,” sparking even more conflict.
King Charles is alleged to have been particularly offended by his remarks regarding stepmother Camilla. In the book, Prince Harry refers to Camilla as a "villain" who "left bodies in the street" and accuses her of leaking information about him to the press.
Prince Harry’s birthday in September was not publicly celebrated by any senior royal, though it is unknown if they privately wished him many happy returns. "Communications between the King and Prince Harry remain pretty poor. They don't speak much, if at all,” an insider told The Telegraph.
Prince Harry Looked Glum with Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met with veterans just one day after alleging they had not gotten an invitation to the King's birthday celebrations next week. During the sighting, the duchess wore a sleek fitted black suit and was all smiles as she joined authorities for the ribbon cutting.
Prince Harry, on the other hand, appeared significantly more subdued than his wife, frowning at times while listening to ceremonial speeches. When the couple was thanked for their help, Prince Harry said a brief "thank you," while Meghan beaming. The launching of the veteran center was their first official appearance since flying to New York last month to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
The inauguration came after the pair spent the morning at Camp Pendleton with veterans and active duty people in preparation for Veterans Day. But, in recent days, Meghan and Harry have been thrust back into the spotlight amid reports of their possible return to the U.K. to celebrate the King's birthday on November 14.
