‘Quantico’ season 2’s episode 11, titled “ZRTORCH,” is set to follow Alex as she struggles to convince Owen of traitors within his group. Meanwhile, showrunner Joshua Safran explained the reason for the show’s shift to a single timeline.
The synopsis for episode 11 posted on Cartermatt states, “Alex (Priyanka Chopra) attempts to convince Owen (Blair Underwood) that the traitor is amongst them; and the recruits are assigned to get an asset out of Germany, but the target has a death wish. Meanwhile, in the future, the terrorists try to extract information from the hostages.”
The promo for the incoming episode hinted at drama, betrayal, and treachery. Alex will have to fight it out with whoever is revealed to be the traitor within their organization. According to Mic, the main protagonist will have to convince Owen about her suspicions to get him on her side but his course of action remains to be seen, considering that Owen isn’t exactly trusting of her and threatened to have her arrested at one point.
“ZRTORCH” will feature Alex claiming that there are traitors lurking within Owen’s group and she must do everything she can to convince him of the truth behind her suspicions. She is already willing to help him weed out these turncoats.
Alex also began to doubt her relationship with Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) as well as pushing through with their mission. It was already revealed that Ryan, Leon (Aaron Diaz), and Dayana (Pearl Thusi) are involved in the rogue faction, AIC. They have already been marked as traitors.
However, Shelby (Johanna Braddy) disclosed to Alex and Hannah (Eliza Coupe) that the AIC aren’t the real terrorists. In fact, the AIC is actually the target of terrorists.
Meanwhile, showrunner Joshua Safran explained the reason for shifting to a single and less confusing timeline by episode 13. During an interview with TV Guide, Safran said, “It actually happens during Episode 13. We had planned this from the beginning of the season.”
He continued, “Part of the reason was last season was really difficult. When you have a pilot made and go to series, you have the initial 12 episodes and you don't know if you're going to get the back nine [order]. So you can't plan a whole year.”
Safran added, “We thought it'd be better to go to a single timeline. It's still the same story; it's not like 14 starts a new story. It's after the events of the hostage crisis and it's sort of the aftermath. We're still talking about the past and how we got here, but we're just not showing the two timelines. Let's say Harry survives -- I think it's fairly obvious Harry survives. [But] whatever happened at The Farm is part of his history.”
‘Quantico’ season 2’s episode 11, titled “ZRTORCH,” is scheduled to air on February 6, 2017 on ABC. It was directed by Kenneth Fink and written by Logan Slakter. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "Fallenoracle," scheduled for February 13.
