“Rick and Morty” season 4 was confirmed when Cartoon Network renewed the hit animation’s contract in May. With the news out, fans are eager to know when it will return. But since there is still no clear answer to this, all that they can do for now is wait until Adult Swim finishes all that they have to do and make an official announcement.
On the bright side, the show’s co-creator, Dan Harmon, revealed to GQ Magazine that they were able to secure a 70-episode deal with CN. He said that although the negotiation process was long, it all ended well and he feels great.
“It was a lot of back and forth, but Justin and I just needed enough episodes and the right kind of deal structure that would give us permission to do what we want to do, which is truly focus on the show,” he told the magazine. “We got all that, and we’re both very excited.”
How many episodes will “Rick and Morty” season 4 have?
The show’s creators shared that they signed a deal for 70 episodes but fans should not get this wrong. The episodes would be spread throughout the fourth and next seasons to come. How this will be divided is unknown, so the exact number of episodes for every season is still unclear.
But then again, in his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dan Harmon said that they are considering 14 episodes for “Rick and Morty” season 4. “I would like to think I’ve learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now,” he said.
“Rick and Morty” Season 4 Release Date
Adult Swim teased fans by saying that it could take a really long time. In a Twitter post, it says “See you in like a really long time.”
Ryan Ridley, the animation’s writer, also hinted that it may probably be after 2019. During his podcast interview with Detroit Cast, he explained that it will take them some time to write the story alone so he would be surprised if the fourth season is released no sooner than 2019.
“Rick and Morty” season 4 will be available on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and Netflix for U.K. viewers.
