“Samurai 8: The Tale of Hacimaru” chapter 43 is the last story in the series. Fans did not expect it but Masashi Kishimoto really concluded the manga without giving a warning.
The manga series ended with only five volumes, far from what Kishimoto was planning when he first introduced “Samurai 8: The Tale of Hacimaru.” he was initially looking forward to at least 10 volumes and even added that they can even go beyond that number if needed be.
"Let's just go with 10 volumes for now,” Anime News Network quoted Kishimoto as saying last year. “I remember saying one time that Naruto would be 15 volumes. It always ends up being longer."
However, it turned out that Kishimoto’s “Samurai 8: The Tale of Hacimaru” did not get the results that they were hoping for when it was first launched. In other words, the manga was not able to attain high readership ranking which means poor response from the fans so he was forced to end it early.
Confirmation of cancellation
It was Weekly Shonen Jump that confirmed “Samurai 8: Tale of Hachimaru” chapter 43 is going to be the last. In its post on Twitter, the magazine simply wrote: “Indeed, Samurai 8 will end this issue with Chapter 43.” The magazine is one of the outlets of this series.
After learning about the final chapter, fans took to social media to air their shock and disappointments. Most of them commented that they were devastated by the sudden announcement and said that it is not fair to discontinue a promising manga.

Nevertheless, the followers of story already read “Samurai 8: the Tale of Hachimaru” chapter 43 that was released on March 22. On Reddit, fans said that despite the fact that they are sad for its abrupt conclusion, they are happy at how Kishimoto ended Hachi’s story.
“Samurai 8: the Tale of Hachimaru” chapter 43 showed a grown-up Hachi and Ann and the former was filled with infinity and pure energy after he died. He also realized his full potential and the important part is that it left the end open for a possible sequel.
“It was the best way they could’ve wrapped up the series,” a fan commented. “Maybe this is wishful thinking, but to me, the unfinished nature of the ending suggests that Kishimoto intends to create a sequel focusing on Ann.”
