As “The Vampire Diaries” come to a close, a new teaser has given hope to Elena-Stefan fans. Ahead of the March 10 season finale, the latest teaser had Elena (Nina Dobrev) asking her whereabouts in her confused state to Stefan (Paul Wesley), MTV.com observed.
\Moreover, Stefan appears to be dressed to the nines in a dark suit, and as more pictures emerged, appears to be the groom of a wedding, but with a mission behind it.
The final episode, titled “We’re Planning a June Wedding,” hints a wedding is indeed in the works. Although still photos from the episode hints the return of Kelly Donovan (Melinda Clarke), it also hints that at least Stefan has something planned.
Entertainment Weekly said in an article, “Based on the title, it certainly looks like Stefan and Caroline’s (Candice King) dream wedding, but the episode description states that it’s planned in order for Stefan and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to “lure a dangerous enemy out into the open.” Here’s to hoping there’s still a bit of romance.”
If Stefan will indeed end up with Caroline, it is possible that he will share a goodbye scene with Elena in the finale. Wesley confided in his final scenes with Dobrev, “I did Stefan’s final scene with Elena. It was strangely emotional for me. You’re saying goodbye to this time and this moment. The two of us are never going to be playing these characters ever again, and these were really important characters in television for eight years. That’s emotional.”
