A video from Daniel Cormier, taken right after his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 241 upset against Stipe Miocic is now making rounds online. The 40-year-old heavyweight fighter appears devastated when UFC President Dana White came in and attempted to console him.
For weeks now, Cormier has been the most talked-about mixed martial artist in UFC. His latest fight, the main event in UFC 241, against Miocic became his second professional loss and his first defeat by knockout. In a heartfelt statement a day after the event, Cormier thanked his family and supporters while also seemingly implying that retirement is on the table. But White is one of those who believe Cormier can continue his UFC career.

The said video was shared by Redditor u/metanoia09 opens with White walking in Cormier’s locker room where the latter’s family was also staying after the match. Cormier appears understandably crestfallen while White attempts to uplift the fighter by saying he gave Miocic a good fight.
Cormier also expressed disappointment at how the match turned out after saying he was “winning the fight on all the cards” for the first three rounds. Cormier was knocked out by Miocic in the fourth round. He then called himself an “idiot” to which White strongly disagreed. “Why are you an idiot? Listen, man, Stipe came to f****** win. That dude was in great shape, he kept coming forward, you kept coming forward,” the UFC President said.
UFC rumors: Will Cormier retire soon?
Not surprisingly, Cormier was hit questions about retirement shortly after the fight. In an online statement posted on Aug. 19, Cormier did not address the issue but also did not promise fans about looking for his next match.
Meanwhile, White has been certain that the loss from Miocic is not the last straw for Cormier. In a post-UFC 241 presser, White said he does not want to see Cormier leave after that fight and saying, once again, that he thinks the 2018 ESPY Best MMA Fighter awardee is the best in MMA worldwide.
As of this writing, the UFC rankings show Cormier has fallen from being the no. 1 overall pound-for-pound rank to no. 6. Miocic has also replaced him as the no. 1 UFC heavyweight fighter and now holds the top 2 spot in the category.
