Xiaomi POCO F2 is coming as a follow-up to the 2018 version called the POCO F1. The Chinese multinational electronics company confirmed that the POCO phone is finally on the way after two years of any upgrade or inactivity for the said phone unit and brand.
While the company was able to launch various phone units last year, including the POCO F2 Pro, POCO X2, POCO M2, POCO M2 Pro, POCO C3, POCO M3, and POCO X3, there was no update about the POCO F2, and now it seems that Xiaomi has heard the call of the consumers and the follow-up for the F2 is now coming soon.
Hint about the phone’s upcoming launch
Many are convinced that Xiaomin POCO F2 is set to be launched sooner than expected, especially after eagle-eyed tech enthusiasts spotted a hint about the unit’s release. In the official Twitter account of POCO India, a promotional video was uploaded on Dec. 31, 2020, and while it shows a look back on what the company has achieved in the year, near the end of the clip, Xiaomi stated that the fun has just begun and they will take it to the next level in 2021.
After this statement, the “F2” appeared at least twice, and those who viewed it believe that the video is confirming that Xiaomi POCO F2 is now in the works and will be one of the first biggest offerings of the company in 2021. It was noted that this is the first time the company ever mentioned the F2 in two years.
Phone specs based on leaked info
Firstly, it was suggested that Xiaomi POCO F2 will be a mid-range phone. This means that it will be more affordable compared to the various POCO units that were released last year. This is actually a good decision since leading tech companies are now creating cheaper phones with good features, and these proved to be selling better than the more pricey ones.
As per GSM Arena, the F2 may come with a 120Hz AMOLED screen and powered by Snapdragon 732G chipset. There will be four rear cameras, and the battery will be 4,250mAh. For more functionality, it was reported that it will also be fitted with NFC support, which is not present in the F1 version.
Finally, the quad-camera in Xiaomi POCO F2 includes a wide-angle, ultrawide, macro, and depth field of views. It was rumored that this new POCO phone is being developed with the codename “Courbet” and the model name of K9A, as per Xiaomi’s Telegram group.
