Peter was educated at University of Strathclyde and London School of Economics. He has been at Stirling since 1994 and teaches and researches on Scottish politics, nationalism, political parties and devolution.
He has published a number of books and articles on these topics over the years and is also an occasional media commentator on elections and by-elections in Scotland as well as Scottish political issues more generally.
He is currently involved in a project on the Scottish devolution referendums of 1979 and 1997 with the Scottish Political Archive at Stirling and is Director of the MSc International Conflict and Cooperation.
