The free agency hubbub is essentially over, but the narrative surrounding Andre Iguodala is still persisting. This isn’t surprising given that the Memphis Grizzlies are rebuilding and the team doesn’t have room for a player who’s in the twilight of his career.
Despite this, however, the Grizzlies has yet to find a good trade for Andre Iguodala on account that teams have already drained most of its spending power. But given the 35-year-old’s value, there are still a few teams that are interested in landing the veteran.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets are apparently still racking their brain how to acquire Andre Iguodala, BR reported. But due to both draining their vaults in an attempt to shore up their respective rosters, the Lakers and the Rockets doesn’t have any substantial offer to entice the Grizzlies.
Andre Iguodala unlikely to leave the Grizzlies in the foreseeable future
The Grizzlies are apparently asking for a first-round pick for Andre Iguodala, a demand that the Lakers and the Rockets can’t fulfill. The only hope for both teams is if the Grizzlies buy out Iggy’s contract. But that is unlikely to happen since the team can still flip him for more trade assets to solidify its rebuilding phase.
Thus, it appears that Andre Iguodala will be staying with the Grizzlies for a while unless a team gunning for a deep Playoff run puts together a tempting package. Meanwhile, the swingman is making headlines on the web after excerpts of his book, “The Sixth Man: A Memoir,” was passed around social media recently.
Andre Iguodala praises former teammate’s basketball intelligence
The excerpt spoke about Draymond Green and how he’s basically a basketball “savant” due to his incredible memory when it comes to previous plays. Andre Iguodala said that Green is one of the most intelligent players he has seen with a focus that is rare even within the ranks of the NBA.
“He can remember plays from four years ago in their entirety, and he'll run you through the entire thirty-second sequence moment by moment… It's like he has an entire film library stored in his head and he can call it up to us at any time,” Andre Iguodala said.
Last week, Warriors coach Steve Kerr praised Iggy for being the unsung hero of the Dubs and revealed how he admired the veteran’s intelligence on the hardwood floor. So for Andre Iguodala to praise Green like this would be quite the compliment indeed.
