Since the show is a follow-up to “Naruto,” it’s only to be expected that “Boruto” would also come with its own set of fillers. However, the show might have hit a new low with the Mitsuki arc by dragging it out way too long. The anime might also be about to make it worse in “Boruto” Episode 86 by featuring a flashback episode of a character that absolutely no one in the fandom cares about.
Considering just how few the manga chapters of “Boruto” still are, it’s understandable that the anime may want to do something to take up the time, for now. However, it’s becoming apparent to viewers that they’ll be stuck with inconsequential stories for a while yet. It would appear that “Boruto” Episode 86 is going to be a good example of this.
The upcoming episode of the anime will be titled “Kozuchi’s Will” and it would seem to refer to the grandson of Onoki. As narrative directions go, it’s quite clear where this one is headed in that “Boruto” Episode 86 will likely provide a deeper explanation as to why the old ninja is betraying Konoha. It’s sure to be filled with scenes and music that are meant to tug at the heartstrings of viewers.
Unfortunately, “Boruto” Episode 86 is also a perfect representation of what fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with. Basically, the anime has been going crazy with its filler episodes to the point where the main storyline has been left in the dust. This is troublesome, especially for those who only watch the anime and believe that the Mitsuki arc is part of said main story.
It is not and judging from the pace at which this particular arc is going, it will likely take a while before the show gets back on track. For those who still want to watch it, “Boruto” Episode 86 will air on Dec. 18.
