Donald Trump lost in the November election against the Democrats candidate Joe Biden, and this was confirmed by the electoral college this week. Some of the Republicans who still hold office in the Trump administration, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, already acknowledged Biden’s win.
The threat to stay at the White House
However, CNN News reported that Donald Trump is still in denial about his loss and told some of his advisors that he will not be leaving the White House on Biden’s Inauguration Day. Then again, while there are some who were alarmed by the declaration, only a few think that the president will actually carry out his threat.
"He's throwing a f***ing temper tantrum," CNN quoted one adviser as saying. "He's going to leave. He's just lashing out."
The election in the U.S. took place in early November, so it has been more than a month now since the Americans voted for Joe Biden. Still, Donald Trump refused to accept the results of the counting. This week, the Electoral College finally affirmed his win, but the POTUS continues to say that he won and accused the opposition of cheating.
Trump still insists that there was a widespread fraud that resulted in Biden’s higher number of votes. He also tried to stop the counting of ballots and request for a recount by filing cases in various states, but the courts just dismissed his filings since he just rants, but there’s no solid proof to back up his claims.
It was rumored that Donald Trump remained defiant because he has people around him who fed him with so much misinformation. It was added that he was supposed to concede already but changed his mind and think that he was really robbed of the votes.
Will Trump concede at some point?
USA Today reported that Donald Trump is likely to keep up with the protests. Even with the Electoral College’s vote for Joe Biden, it was predicted that continue to complain and refuse to accept the new president.
Lastly, the president told his aides that he will never acknowledge Biden. While he may leave the White House, he will carry on with his election protest and would run for the 2024 presidential election again.
