Former President Donald Trump was almost always seen at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida if he was not in Washington throughout his presidency. For the first time since leaving the White House in January, Trump is set to visit New York this week.
Reports have surfaced that Trump would be visiting New York for the first time since departing from the White House this week. Trump changed his address to his Florida resort in recent years. Following the reports of his visit to the state, a local tv station reported that the police were preparing to increase security around Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Trump Tower has been the center of recent protests and had a lot of law enforcement present since he first announced his presidential bid back in 2015 until the end of his term, even more so since the insurrection at the Capitol last January 6.
City officials have since painted Black Lives Matter on the street outside Trump Tower as a response to the now-former president’s stance on the movement.
Following his election loss to Joe Biden last November, Trump refused to accept defeat while insisting that the election was rigged or that there was voter fraud even as top officials from both sides have refuted the claims. This soon culminated in the Capitol riots as a pro-Trump mob stormed the building in an attempt to derail the formal counting of electoral votes that went to Biden. Trump and his allies have also lost over 60 lawsuits contesting the results in swing states that went to his Democratic opponent during the elections.
Following his involvement in the Capitol riots, it remains to be seen what happened to his allies that have been quiet since the departure of the Trumps from the White House. The Daily Mail first reported that the former president’s son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner has now left the political scene due to a supposed feud with Trump.
Trump’s visit to New York comes amidst the feud he has with his son-in-law, whom he reportedly blames for his election loss to Biden. Both Trump and Kushner were reportedly purposely trying to avoid each other when both were seen at the Trump golf course Wednesday.
