Before people knew Donald Trump to be the President of the United States, he was known for being a businessman who often made cameos in movies and television. Fran Drescher recently recalls a request Trump made when he made a cameo on “The Nanny.”
Drescher appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers where she recalled her experience working with Trump on the hit 90’s sitcom. Trump played himself on the episode titled “The Rosie Show,” as a rich friend of Mr. Sheffield. Drescher’s character, Fran Fine, stands in the scene with the two men and says “All you millionaires are alike,” but it was that line that seemed to spark Trump to make an unusual request. Drescher then shared that after that take, Trump’s assistant sent the production a note asking to change the word ‘millionaire’ into ‘billionaire’ instead.
“Mr. Trump is not a millionaire. He’s a billionaire and we’d like you to change the script,” recalled Drescher regarding the note. However, the actress had reservations regarding this request and explained that the term ‘billionaire’ is not exactly what Fran would say. “I thought that seemed too on the money because I know Fran would have described anyone who was rich as a millionaire, but to say billionaire was such a specific choice,” explained the actress.
Drescher at the time decided to come up with a solution that could make both opinions meet in the middle. They then asked Trump if Fran could say “zillionaire” instead and he agreed. The actress also pointed out that her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, whom she co-created the show with, still has the note, and said that the note is framed in his office.
Trump was recently acquitted for both articles of impeachment at the Senate. He was initially charged for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, the former, as his defense team and the Republican Senators, said, is not an offense that warrants impeachment. Following the verdict to acquit Trump, the Democrats on the prosecution warned the chances that the President would try and cheat again. “A man without character or ethical compass will never find his way. He has done it before and he will do it again,” said Lead Impeachment prosecutor Adam Schiff.
