The U.S. Commerce Department announced the result of an investigation that began back in January this year into imports of certain decorative plastic ribbon from China and it has found that exporters from China receive countervailable subsidies ranging from 12.81 percent to 94.67 percent. The Commerce Department has asked the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) to collect cash deposits from importer based on these final rates.
The investigation was initiated based on a petition filed by Berwick Offray, LLC (Berwick, PA). According to the department’s calculations, the imports of this decorative Plastic Ribbon was valued at $22.5 million in 2017.
President Trump’s Commerce Department, led by Secretary Wilbur Ross has initiated 114 AD/CVD investigations so far, which 78 percent more than issued by the Obama administration in the last 495 days.
