Harley Quinn on “Gotham”? You better believe it.
Reports are saying that Joker’s famous assistant is set to grace the screens on the Season 3 finale of “Gotham.” TV Guide said executive producer was initially coy about the villanness’ appearance on the show, given her character’s successful launch in the movies (“Suicide Squad”). However, he teased and told the online publication that there is a possibility “Batman” universe fans will see a glimpse of her in Season 22.
Independent UK, on the other hand, cited a theory that the TV version of Harley Quinn may not be a new character. It has been pointed out that James Gordon's (Ben McKenzie) ex-fiancée Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) might play the role as her new identity.
Harley Quinn’s return to the TV screen seems to coincide with the introduction of Joker. Joker was also not a new character on “Gotham,” but was the resurrected character of Jerome (Cameron Monaghan). Cinemablend said the decision to kill off Jerome at the hands of Theo Galavan in Season 2 and resurrect him as Joker was in a similar fashion with Fish Mooney’s.
So it felt natural story-wise to bring in Harley Quinn and flesh out her original story in “Gotham.” Christian Times wrote that for a character known to losing her sanity after being forced to murder her own parents, it was possible that Jerome could meet her at the Arkham Asylum.
Fans will look forward to “Gotham”’s return on January 23, on FOX. Stephens revealed that a big encounter between Batman and The Joker will happen in the second half of Season 3.
