Ivanka Trump was deposed in connection with Donald Trump’s inaugural funds in 2017. She was questioned by lawyers as part of the lawsuit alleging that the POTUS’ inauguration committee misused millions of donor funds.
Ivanka’s deposition
CNN reported that Ivanka Trump was called for an interview with some lawyers from Washington’s attorney general’s office. The office filed a case for the alleged squandering of funds and accused the committee of gaining over $1 million in questionable payments to Donald Trump’s Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. during the inauguration week in 2017.
The lawyers also subpoenaed various records from Melania Trump, Ivanka Trump and Thomas Barrack Jr., Donald Trump’s close friend who headed the committee. It was said that the board paid $1 million for booking a ballroom in Trump’s hotel.
Karl Racine, the District of Columbia’s attorney general, alleged that the expense was grossly overpaid and it was actually a scheme for the Trumps to gain an enormous amount. He said the committee misused the funds and organized the entire event with the hotel and Trump’s family.
“District law requires nonprofits to use their funds for their stated public purpose, not to benefit private individuals or companies,” Racine said. “In this case, we are seeking to recover the nonprofit funds that were improperly funneled directly to the Trump family business.”
At any rate, it was mentioned that the inaugural committee collected a total of $107 million just for funding events to celebrate Donald Trump’s win. However, the way the money was spent was questionable so it has been scrutinized.
Ivanka unwelcome in New York
Meanwhile, as Ivanka Trump was deposed, posters that say she and her family are not welcome in New York have cropped up around the town. Since Donald Trump lost in the election and his family are set to move out from the White House, it was reported that Ivanka and Jared Kushner may move back to NYC.
But then, New Yorkers have expressed their disagreement in case the family plans to relocate to the city. Some people made it clear that they do not want Ivanka Trump to return by posting flyers that mimic a "Wanted" poster for outlaws. They printed Donald Trump’s eldest daughter’s photo and wrote: "Ivanka Trump: Not Wanted in New York City."
