Prior to moving into the Oval Office, Joe Biden previously suffered a foot fracture while playing with his dog Major. White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor has now released a statement, announcing that Biden’s injury has now healed.
Dr. O’Connor released a statement over the weekend, announcing that Biden’s foot fracture was now healed. Dr. O’Connor made the announcement after Biden visited the Delaware Orthopedic Specialists, where he received X-rays for the hairline fracture he sustained back in November. An earlier statement released by Dr. O’Connor revealed that Biden has shown improved symptoms and is undergoing physical therapy to recover.
“The President received routine follow-up x-rays today. Both small fractures of his foot are completely healed,” said Dr. O’Connor. “The injury has healed as expected, and he will return to his usual exercise regimen.”
The physician was appointed back into White House status after serving as Biden’s primary care during his two terms as vice president. At the time of injury, Biden had just celebrated his 78th birthday, making him the oldest US president to be elected. During his campaign, the Biden campaign also previously released his medical statements, with doctors declaring him fit and healthy enough to take on the presidency especially as Donald Trump and his allies have constantly attacked Biden’s health during the campaign.
With Biden’s administration planning on ramping up COVID-19 vaccinations across the country, the President has said he plans to consider taking up the offer of using NFL stadiums as vaccination sites. Biden confirmed this when he appeared on the CBS Super Bowl pre-game show, mentioning the offer that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made towards him last week. Biden added that he hopes that through the efforts to increase vaccinations, Super Bowl LVI could be played in front of a full stadium by 2022.
Goodell’s offer extends to the rest of the NFL stadiums that have not yet been used as vaccination sites. Those currently in use are Carolina Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium, Arizona Cardinals’ State Farm Stadium, Atlanta Falcons’ Mercedes Benz Stadium, Baltimore Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium, Houston Texans’ NRG Park, Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium, and New England Patriots’ Gilette Stadium.
