It has been widely rumored that pop star Katy Perry has been tapped to become one of the judges in the upcoming “American Idol” reboot on ABC. Now the songstress has emerged and her comments (and actions) were a bit intriguing.
On Tuesday, Perry was a special guest on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show. When DeGeneres tried to confirm the rumors, Perry was a bit mysterious, E! noted.
"”Idol” is coming back. Supposedly, you're going to be the first announcement that you're going to be a judge on the new American Idol," she told Perry, who nodded her head.
Citing a Bible verse, Perry replied, "Judge not lest ye be judged. But, they didn't say anything about constructive criticism and I'm good at that."
The 32 year-old proceeded to sip her water as DeGeneres pushed for more information, ET Online said. Perry then continued to discuss about her latest album, “Witness.”
If Perry’s confirmation as a judge would turn out to be true, then it is not just the only change people will expect in the reality competition revival. Not divulging any more details, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said, "In terms of format changes to make it feel fresh, absolutely. This is going to be ABC's version of “American Idol,” so we are very excited. I think you guys will see when we unveil our version of the show that it is going to have a very clear ABC hallmark and brand on it at that point."
