Lindt, a Swiss chocolatier and confectionery company headquartered in Kilchberg, Switzerland, revealed this week that it would be releasing its very first plant-based products. The announcement of the new chocolates also coincides with World Vegan Day on Nov. 1.
Lindt’s move to create its vegan chocolate line was said to be a response to the growing demand and interest in plant-based products in the United Kingdom. In the past, going vegan meant eating vegetables and fruits while also ditching sweets, so many find the lifestyle to be difficult to maintain.
But these days, aside from chocolates and cakes, almost every kind of food has its vegan version now. Even the favorite big burgers that are typically packed with fat, cholesterol, and more, have their plant-based version today. Thus, staying vegan may not be that hard anymore.
In the case of chocolates, vegans can continue to enjoy eating chocolates as one of the world-famous premium brands, Lindt, has jumped into the plant-based bandwagon and now offering a vegan range. According to Evening Standard, Lindt & Sprüngli are set to launch two chocolate products, and they are vegan-friendly.
The chocolate maker will be releasing the Lindt Hot Chocolate with an introductory price tag of £4. This item was described as a smooth cocoa drink that can be served hot or cold. The taste is unlike any ordinary chocolate powder but features Lindt’s signature premium quality flavor.
In addition to the chocolate drink, Lindt is also debuting two chocolate vegan bars. This is the company’s first-ever plant-based option. Fans of the brand can choose from two flavors which are the Vegan Hazelnut and Classic Vegan Smooth.
Customers are assured of Lindt’s usual creamy and silky chocolate that it is known for. The bars were said to have been made with the brand’s premium cocoa, gluten-free oat, and almond paste. Although there is a difference in the ingredients, the taste of these vegan chocos is the same as the regular Lindt bars.
As per Vegconomist, the new Lindt vegan chocolate products will be available in UK stores starting January 2022. Fans can get them at Sainsbury’s and other popular grocery stores and online.
