Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of endangering her safety, claiming his recent online attacks have triggered a surge in threats against her. Greene, once one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, has increasingly broken from him on several issues, leading to a sharp public feud.
In a post on X, Greene said private security firms have alerted her about rising risks following Trump’s comments. She warned that aggressive rhetoric aimed at her in the past has resulted in multiple men being convicted after making death threats, and she fears the latest wave could escalate. Greene emphasized that this time the rhetoric is coming directly from a former president, raising the stakes.
Trump initiated the clash Friday night on Truth Social, calling Greene “Wacky,” a “ranting lunatic,” and complaining that she repeatedly tried to contact him. On Saturday, he escalated his criticism, labeling her a “Lightweight Congresswoman,” a “Traitor,” and a “disgrace” to the Republican Party. He even suggested GOP voters in her district should consider a primary challenger, indicating he would back an opponent in the 2026 election.
Greene’s break with Trump became more visible after she joined three other Republicans and Democrats in signing a petition to force the release of full Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump has dismissed renewed interest in the Epstein case as a Democrat-driven hoax.
Greene said Trump’s harsh rhetoric fuels harassment from what she called “radical internet trolls,” some of whom she claims are paid to attack his critics. She added that the pressure has given her a small glimpse into the fear felt by Epstein’s victims.
While the White House did not comment, Greene said the situation has shocked many Republicans, especially given her consistent support for Trump’s agenda.
