McDonald's and Krispy Kreme have expanded their partnership to offer donuts to more stores across the United States. They will be selling donut treats alongside Big Macs and french fries.
Krispy Kreme donuts are coming to McDonald's, and both companies confirmed this on Tuesday, Mar. 26. This follows the success of their pilot project, which started in October 2022.
Initial Trial Run of Selling Krispy Kreme Donuts in McDonald's
At the beginning of their collaboration, the fast-food chains added Krispy Kreme donuts to 160 McDonald's stores in key locations in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky. The test was successful, as the demand for donuts during the period exceeded the companies' expectations. Now, the program will go nationwide and roll out starting in the second half of this year.
The full implementation of the program is expected to be completed in 2026. Reuters reported that, as part of the agreement, Krispy Kreme will not supply its donut products to any other quick-service restaurant in the country until Dec. 31, 2026.
Krispy Kreme Flavors on McDonald's Menu
Customers can buy three flavors of Krispy Kreme donuts in McDonald's outlets: original glazed flavor, kreme-filled flavors, and chocolate iced with sprinkles. Customers may purchase just one donut or a box of six from McDonald's restaurants, and they will be available throughout the day until supplies last.
To mark the team-up, Krispy Kreme said it will give away free original glazed donuts to customers who will drop by its stores on Mar. 26 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Meanwhile, CNN Business reported that the donut chain's shares soared over 39% after announcing its collaboration with McDonald's.
"This partnership is an exciting next step in that journey and a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day," McDonald's US chief marketing and customer experience officer Tariq Hassan said in a press release. "Our fans' love for Krispy Kreme runs deep, and we can't wait to make it even easier for them to satisfy their sweet tooth at McDonald's restaurants across the country."
