First Lady Melania Trump hosted a private White House screening of her new documentary film, Melania, on Saturday, offering an intimate look into her life during the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration. According to the White House, the East Room event marked the first full viewing of the film by the president, his family, and a close circle of friends and advisers.
The film, set for a global theatrical release on January 30, provides rare behind-the-scenes access to Melania Trump, who has largely stayed out of the public spotlight during her husband’s second term. Produced by her longtime adviser and agent Marc Beckman, the movie opens on Inauguration Day in January 2025, featuring the first lady arriving at the U.S. Capitol wearing a navy wide-brimmed hat that quickly became a defining fashion moment. The documentary also highlights her advisory role, including a scene where she urges President Trump to frame his inaugural address around themes of unity and peace.
Roughly 70 guests from across politics, culture, and business attended the screening. Notable attendees included former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, Jordan’s Queen Rania—who appears in the film’s trailer—Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins, filmmaker Brett Ratner, and General Electric CEO Larry Culp. The project is backed by a reported $40 million deal with Amazon MGM Studios, with a follow-up documentary series planned later this year focusing on Melania Trump’s initiatives, including advocacy for children in foster care.
Beckman emphasized that Melania is not a political film, but rather a personal portrait shaped by the first lady’s creative vision. The documentary explores her fashion, diplomatic engagements, Secret Service operations, and moments that showcase President Trump’s humor. Ahead of the public release, the president and first lady are scheduled to attend a premiere at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, recently renamed the Trump-Kennedy Center. Melania Trump will also ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange to promote the film, further building anticipation ahead of its debut.
