“Star Trek: Discovery” is getting another season after CBS All Access revealed that it renewed series for more episodes. The announcement was a bit surprising because it came just after the sixth episode of the second installment which is currently being aired every Thursday.
According to Variety, the third season of “Star Trek: Discovery” will also feature a new showrunner following the exit of Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg who were terminated due to the writers’ abuse allegations and budget disputes. Michelle Paradise will now serve as the series’ fifth showrunner and she will work alongside Alex Kurtzman.
“Michelle joined us midway through season two and energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of Trek,” Kurtzman commented as Paradise joins the show as his co-showrunner. “Her grasp of character and story detail, her drive and her focus have already become essential in ensuring the Trek legacy, and her fresh perspective always keeps us looking forward. I’m proud to say Michelle and I are officially running Star Trek: Discovery.”
“Star Trek: Discovery” season 3 is confirmed but aside from having its new showrunner, other details about it is not available yet. Meanwhile, TV Line recently interviewed Ethan Peck and was asked about his role as Spock in “Star Trek: Discovery” season 2.
The first look of the young Spock played by Ethan was finally shown in the latest episode that aired on Feb. 22. The actor shared that he had no idea at first at what he was auditioning for in “Star Trek” but after several rounds, he was informed that he will be playing the iconic character.
On landing the role, Ethan said that he asked himself, “How is this possible?” and “Am I capable of this?” then he said that he felt just lucky. “Spock is an incredible opportunity but also a terrifying one that comes with a lot of responsibility. It means a lot to me that this character and world is respected and treated with great care.”
