“Star Wars: Episode IX” is set to be the movie trilogy’s final installment and since this is the last, the production team is making sure that all the loose ends would be tied up and mysteries solved so there will be no questions anymore when the film ends. Although there is still a lot of time before the film makes its way to the theatres, spoilers are already out and below are some worthy details.
According to Digital Trends, “Star Wars: Episode IX” will feature a one-year time jump to continue with the trilogy’s story. The publication revealed that it was John Boyega (Finn) who hinted that the new “Star Wars” movie will pick up one year following the events in the 2017 “The Last Jedi” sequel.
In any case, teasers like movie trailers and still photos of “Star Wars: Episode IX” is not yet available but it was confirmed that the late Carrie Fisher will still make an appearance and reprise her iconic role as Leia Organa. This would be the last sequel so it just makes sense to have her in the film.
How will they bring Carrie Fisher in “Star Wars: Episode IX” when she already passed away in 2016? Via Good Morning America, Todd Fisher, the actress’ brother, shared that movie director JJ Abrams informed him that his sister will still be included in the final sequel and this would be possible by weaving her old footage in the new one.
Todd explained that JJ Abrams will add Carrie Fisher’s unused footage that she originally filmed for “The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi.” Then again, her role will be a bit short in “Star Wars: Episode IX” since the available clips of the late actress are only several minutes long.
“There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t mean just outtakes,” he said in the interview. “This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick.”
Todd Fisher further disclosed that he already saw the footage and was impressed by how authentic it looks. He said that it seems those were meant to be included in “Star Wars: Episode IX” and like it was just filmed yesterday.
“Star Wars: Episode IX” has been scheduled for release on Dec. 20, 2019.
