The cast of the upcoming Marvel TV series “The Inhumans” are shaping up pretty nicely. It has been announced that “Lost” alum and former “The Night Shift” star Ken Leung has been tapped to play Karnak, a mutant Variety said that has the ability “to see the fault in all things — people, plans, structures, everything.” Leung’s TV credits include stints in “Person of Interest,” “Zero Hour” and “Deception,” and appeared as Admiral Statura in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Showrunner and executive producer Scott Buck said about Leung’s casting, “Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak.”
Prior to Leung’s casting, Anson Mount of “Hell On Wheels” and “Conviction,” and Serinda Swan of “Graceland” and “TRON: Legacy” will play the king and queen of The Inhumans, Black Bolt and Medusa, Den of Geek reported. Black Bolt in the comics is "the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city," whereas Medusa is “a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers." Leung’s character will be Black Bolt’s cousin and his most trusted advisor. The three actors will be joining Iwan Rheon, who is known in the “Game of Thrones” universe as the fearsome Ramsay Bolton. The Hollywood Reporter said Rheon will be playing Black Bolt’s brother Maximus, and a potential antagonist in the series:
“Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan [the Moon-based community where many Inhumans live], especially his brother, the king — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself."
“The Inhumans” will air on ABC in September, a version of the first two episodes to appear in IMAX theaters. The show will officially premiere in the fall.
