Former vice president Joe Biden is becoming the presumed Democratic nominee for the elections in November. Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano weighed in on who would Biden choose as a running mate and suggested that the former vice president may pick someone unexpected.
Napolitano appeared on the radio program All Across America with Jimmy Failla recently and gave his speculations regarding the upcoming election, especially who Biden may pick as a running mate should he become the Democratic nominee that will go against Donald Trump. “If it were up to me, I would choose a female, and the decision might be a little surprising,” said Napolitano.
The analyst also explained that there were many factors that are to be taken into account when choosing a running mate because presidential candidates have varying levels of experience and influence. But, Napolitano also predicted that Biden may choose to go down a different direction and choose a Republican as a running mate. As to which Republican politician, it may likely be John Kasich, who “probably agrees with Biden on everything” according to Napolitano. However, should Biden choose Kasich as a running mate, then he would have already won the vote of Ohio, adding that Trump cannot win without Ohio’s vote.
Biden has already said that he was open to having a Republican be his running mate in the elections, and added that the notable ones have to “step up.” Biden has also said that he is open to having a person of color or a woman as a running mate.
As Biden continues securing wins in primaries, the Senate continues its probe on his son Hunter and his role in Burisma, the energy company in Ukraine. Politico reports that the Senate Homeland Security Committee decided to change who to subpoena into their probe, which Democrat Senators have criticized as being an attempt to smear Biden as he campaigns for President.
Chairman Ron Johnson will instead issue a subpoena to Blue Star Strategies, a public affairs firm. With their change in target, the vote to subpoena Andrii Telizhenko was called off. Prior to the vote, Democrat Senators have requested intelligence briefings, concerned that the panel was helping the Russian disinformation efforts.
