The excitement over the full release of “Warcraft 3: Reforged” was quickly transformed into disappointment, as evidenced by thousands of reviews now up online. After just a week since the remastered game’s release, some players confirm they were able to refund the amount they spent on the game.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’ refund: Blizzard reportedly accepts refund requests, players report
“Warcraft 3: Reforged” was one of the most anticipated games in 2019. The game’s launch was, however, delayed to last Jan. 28, as Blizzard cited, it needed more time to polish the game.
Unfortunately, the state of the game during its first week was met by mostly disapproving feedback that even convinced some players to demand a refund. Redditor u/krOnicLTD reported being able to get their money back even after only playing the full version for over five hours.
In the original poster’s case, the refund process was completed “within one minute, automatically” through a Battle.net link despite pre-purchasing the game in December 2018. Some players replied to the same Reddit post confirming they were also able to get a refund. However, not everyone experiences the same success.
Others who were unsuccessful reported getting a message that the transaction will not push through since they bought “Warcraft 3: Reforged” beyond the 72-hour period. It is unclear why players are not getting the same responses, but some fans suspect there might be some region-based limitations applied.
‘Warcraft 3: Reforged’ bugs, update: Blizzard says sorry for controversial opening week
Many fans, even some of those who have requested refunds, remain hopeful that “Warcraft 3: Reforged” would get much better in the upcoming updates. However, the overwhelming number of negative reviews online from critics and users are difficult to overlook. On Metacritic, the game currently has an overall 0.5 user score – more than 11,600 players have given it negative feedback, as of this writing, compared to the few hundreds of positive reviews.
Blizzard has since addressed the growing disappointment over the quality of “Warcraft 3: Reforged” upon its release and promised that updates are already planned to improve the game. “First off, we want to say we’re sorry to those of you who didn’t have the experience you wanted, and we’d like to share our plans for what’s coming next,” the developer wrote.
