Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, announced that he held discussions with U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, a prominent member of Washington’s negotiating team working on a potential settlement to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Yermak shared the update on Tuesday, emphasizing that Ukraine expects Driscoll to arrive in Kyiv this week as part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts to accelerate progress toward a peace agreement.
In a message posted on Telegram, Yermak expressed appreciation for the United States’ balanced and constructive stance during negotiations. He noted that the Ukrainian side is prepared to move quickly to finalize steps aimed at ending the conflict. According to Yermak, President Donald Trump’s outlined expectations include intensified engagement, with Kyiv ready to contribute to the process "as quickly as possible" to stop the bloodshed and secure long-term stability.
Yermak, who took part in recent discussions in Geneva between Ukrainian representatives and U.S. officials, described the meeting as productive and a meaningful starting point for further dialogue. He characterized the talks as “a good foundation,” signaling cautious optimism as both nations explore a framework that could pave the way toward a viable peace proposal. He added that President Zelenskiy and his team remain fully committed to continuing negotiations and working closely with U.S. counterparts to advance the peace initiative.
The continued communication between Kyiv and Washington underscores the urgency of finding a diplomatic path forward after years of intense conflict. With Driscoll’s expected visit and deepening engagement from U.S. negotiators, Ukrainian officials hope momentum will build toward concrete steps that could ease hostilities and support regional security. As diplomatic channels broaden, both countries appear focused on establishing the conditions necessary for a sustainable and mutually acceptable resolution to the war.
