Philippe Ciais is a senior researcher at Laboratoire des sciences de l’environnement et du climat, near Paris (France) and is the author of more than 600 peer-reviewed publications, cited 43000 times (H-index= 102; ISI-Web of Science). Invited Yang-Tze professor at Beijing University and highly-cited scientists in both Geosciences and Ecology.
He studied Physics at École normale supérieure, received a doctoral degree in 1991, then post-doctoral fellow at NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), US. Recruited by LSCE in 1994, he pursued his research on inverse modelling of GHG fluxes and helped to develop the French GHG monitoring network.
Over the last two decades Philippe Ciais worked on terrestrial greenhouse gas fluxes including natural and cultivated ecosystems. He mentored 40 doctoral candidates and 30 post-doctoral fellows. He is laureate of the Copernicus Medal of the European Geophysical Union in 2016 and the CNRS Medal of Silver in 2017.
