A storm of global reaction has erupted after Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claimed ownership of a Tesla Cybertruck, with many questioning Elon Musk’s involvement in the controversial purchase.
Global Reaction Erupts Over Cybertruck Ownership
Teslarati reports that people are going crazy over the fact that Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of the Chechens, got his hands on a Tesla Cybertruck.
As the leader of the Chechen Republic, Kadyrov is also a politician. Evidence from his tenure as leader shows that he employs authoritarian policies that have been called into question for their potential to violate human rights. At least a few of them were deemed to be crimes against humanity.
The fact that Kadyrov expressed gratitude to CEO Elon Musk for presenting him with a Cybertruck has led to criticism of his ownership of the vehicle. Many have taken this to mean that Musk personally delivered the car to him, but this is not the case.
Even after purchasing one of Musk's vehicles, many customers express their gratitude for his craftsmanship.
Cybertruck Used as Political Propaganda by Kadyrov
Kadyrov appears to be using his assertion as a propaganda trick; one interpretation is that Musk sent him the truck, which he has previously denied. Second, it has come to light that Kadyrov is engaging in political propaganda through the car.
It is becoming increasingly clear that Kadyrov is likely attempting to sow discord with the Cybertruck since many are beginning to see through the statement:
Musk Rejects Claims of Cybertruck Delivery
Musk then admitted, using language that could be objectionable to some, that he had not given Kadyrov the Cybertruck:
This is only the most recent instance of the way the media portrays Musk. He has been critical of the mainstream media for a while now. He bought Twitter and rebranded it as X in part to counter the narratives propagated by the mainstream media; this is the most recent iteration of that portrayal of Musk.
Some news reports, for instance, make it look like Musk gave the car to Kadyrov as a gift, ignoring the fact that he has publicly disputed the allegations.
