Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are leaving the White House soon, and there are reports that claimed they will be moving to Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The president and his family are said to be moving to their mansion there and the home is already being prepared for their transfer.
But then again, a different report came out this week and it was said that Donald and Melania Trump may not be living in Mar-a-Lago after all. They own the property that was turned into a private club but they may not be heading there once they step down as the president and first lady of America.
Where is the First Couple heading after their White House exit?
It was reported that the Trumps have been checking out some places around Florida and most possibly, they will be settling in Palm Beach. Needless to say, they are looking at some first-class communities in the area since there will be issues if they will live in Mar-a-Lago.
“Melania and Trump are talking to brokers about buying a house in Palm Beach, or nearby as the living space at Mar-a-Lago isn’t big enough and there could be some potential conflicts,” a source told Page Six.
The insider further revealed that the POTUS and his family spent their holidays at Mar-a-Lago for the holidays. Melania Trump is said to have taken the chance to redecorate their home that is being renovated and expanded as well.
While the home renovation is on-going, it was noted that it cannot be the Trump family’s permanent residence. Mainly, this is because of the deal that Donald Trump made with Palm Beach when he converted the property into a private club more than two decades ago. One part of the agreement specifically states that all club members are only allowed to stay at Mar-a-Lago for 21 days per year.
POTUS angered by FLOTUS’ Mar-a-Lago renovations
The news about the on-going renovations at Mar-a-Lago came out early this month and the Trump family celebrated Christmas there. Melania Trump has been overseeing the renovations and it was reported that the moment Donald Trump set foot on their home three days before Christmas, he fumed at what he saw.
As per the source, he saw the changes in his private quarters and other parts of the house and got mad because he didn’t like how it was decorated and furnished. Even the materials used were not to his liking so he immediately ordered for them to be replaced. One example is that he asked for a decor made with white marble and dark wood to be removed.
CNN reached out to the White House for comments but did not get an immediate response.
