The Senate impeachment trial for President Donald Trump is expected to end this week, and Trump still has a few words to say about it. In an interview in Fox News, Trump went on a rant regarding the trial, slamming some Democrats along the way.
Politicalflare reports that Trump went on a rant during his interview with Sean Hannity before the Super Bowl started. The President ranted about how his impeachment was unfair, while also calling the process unfair as well as calling the whole thing nonsense. He continued his rant, saying that his critics have always been out to bring him down ever since he announced he would be running for president, including the Mueller investigation and the investigation of his ties to Russia in his complaints.
Given that Trump is up for reelection this November during the 2020 elections, Hannity then asked if he will turn his impeachment into a “campaign issue” followed up by another supposed option that if he does win, “do you see a path that you could work with Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats?”
Trump was rather pessimistic about the option and began to throw insults at the Democrats instead. “They don’t care about fairness. They don’t care about lying. You look at the lies. You look at the reports that were done that were so false. The level of hypocrisy” said Trump. He also mentioned how his family has suffered ever since the impeachment.
The President is up for impeachment on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. It also includes what transpired during the Ukraine scandal where he wanted an investigation done on his Democratic rivals, especially former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
Meanwhile, amongst his Democratic opponents in this upcoming election, Trump seems to target former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, now more than ever, as both their campaign ads aired during the Super Bowl. Trump revealed to Hannity that he would “love” to run against Bloomberg during the general election and even made a little side comment regarding the former mayor’s height, calling him ‘little’ and that he needed a box to stand on for debates.
Bloomberg’s campaign team responded to his side comments saying that there is no basis for that. Julie Wood, the campaign spokesperson, also said that Trump was lying.
