Speculations are rife that Donald Trump will be refusing to leave the White House even until Inauguration Day when Joe Biden is sworn in. A former Secret Service official revealed that the agents would have to ask family members to tell the outgoing president to leave.
Speaking to The Daily Beast’s Marc Ambinder, the former official said that Secret Service agents may have to task the family members like White House adviser Ivanka Trump, to make sure her father vacates the presidential estate. The official said that they would likely have a conversation with the staff as well as the family and tell them that they now have the task of making sure Trump is out of the White House by inauguration day. Another scenario, according to the official, would be to lock out the White House staff by January 19 and would no longer be allowed re-entry.
However, another former Secret Service official weighed in on the possible scenario. The former agent revealed that by 12 noon on Inauguration Day, Trump would be a private citizen and, by law, would get caught trespassing. The agent added that they would have to escort Trump out should he refuse to leave the premises.
Meanwhile, the White House adviser traveled to South Florida at Miami-Dade County for a drive-through food distribution event under the Farmers to Families Food Box program in time for Christmas. Ivanka was seen greeting families while personally helping load food boxes into cars. The location of the food distribution program was not far from where she and her husband Jared Kushner recently purchased a plot of land in the exclusive and high-security Indian Creek nicknamed “Billionaire’s Bunker.”
Ivanka shared photos from the day on her social media accounts. “Joined @kingjesusmiami for their Holiday food distribution -- serving over 1K families,” tweeted Ivanka. “We handed out over 1.5K Farmers to Families Food Boxes to local families. Seeing the need firsthand, I know the impact this program is making for millions of families across the US.”
The Farmers to Families Food Box program has since delivered millions of food boxes to families who have been greatly affected by the pandemic. Congress recently approved a coronavirus stimulus package that also included the extension of this program.
