Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson became a household name worldwide after starring in the movie adaptation of E.L. Jame’s “Fifty Shades” trilogy. Although the two, especially the former were already making a name in Hollywood, it was not until playing as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively, that their careers really took off.
Then again, Jamie Dornan revealed that while being in “Fifty Shades” with Dakota Johnson was really beneficial for all of them, he admitted that there is also a downside. In his recent promotional event for the film called “A Private War,” the actor shared that despite the fact that he can play various roles, he is now being typecast in erotic and provocative films only.
As further mentioned in Cinema Blend, Jamie Dornan is disappointed that fans and movie producers mostly see him as Christian Grey now. “Sometimes and I struggle with that. I might be fighting this my entire career. I hope not,” he said.
But although this is the case, Jamie Dornan acknowledged the fact that if it was not for “Fifty Shades” trilogy with Dakota Johnson, he would not have many projects like the ones he is doing right now. Thus, he does not regret being in the film despite some minor bad effects.
“I think it's given me so much beyond finance-wise,” Jamie shared. “I mean that opportunity to then do the movies that we're talking about like Anthropoid and A Private War, movies like that have so much heart and mean so much to me. I would not have been given those opportunities if I hadn't done Fifty Shades.”
Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson, already said that she is still willing to accept roles like in “Fifty Shades” and would love to work with Jamie Dornan as well. On the other hand, the “Robinhood” actor previously stated that he wants to avoid erotic films for now and prefer the kinds that his kids can watch in the future.
