Joe Biden and his administration now look forward to passing their next big piece of legislation in the form of his American Jobs Plan. This week, Biden is set to promote the proposal in his visit to Louisiana.
Biden will be visiting Louisiana on Thursday as part of his Getting America Back on Track tour to promote the American Jobs Plan that focuses on infrastructure. Biden will be stopping at New Orleans and Lake Charles, according to a statement from the White House. Aside from his infrastructure plan, Biden also looks to pass his American Families Plan that would put an emphasis on education, health care, and child care.
Last week, Biden visited Philadelphia following his visit to Georgia to mark his first 100 days as president. In his visit to Philadelphia, Biden also promoted the upcoming proposals in his speech at the city’s Amtrak 30th street station for its 50th anniversary. Biden noted that the US is falling behind against China in terms of improving the transportation grid.
“We’re way behind on the rest of the world right now. We need to remember we’re in competition with the rest of the world,” said Biden.
The visit to the station was nostalgic for Biden throughout his career as a US Senator for Delaware. Biden was known for traveling back and forth from Delaware to Washington during his time as a lawmaker in the upper chamber.
In other news, top Biden adviser Anita Dunn explained the reason why Biden continues to wear a face mask outdoors despite CDC guidelines relaxing need to do so amongst Americans that have been fully vaccinated. Dunn shared that she personally still wears a mask outdoors even as she was fully vaccinated out of habit. Dunn added that Biden takes the CDC guidelines very seriously, noting that Biden is setting an example to Americans to follow the science and take it seriously.
“We do take extra precautions for him because he is the President of the United States. But I would say that people should follow the CDC guidelines and they should take advantage of getting the vaccine, getting fully vaccinated, and taking that mask off, particularly as the weather grows so beautiful and we all want to be outside,” said Dunn.
