Outgoing vice president Mike Pence appears to be placed on the spot over recent days due to the upcoming meeting to affirm the electoral votes. However, Donald Trump’s attorney Lin Wood has begun to issue threats against Pence, even calling for his execution.
Wood appeared to be on a Twitter rant to spread his claims as to why or how the election was rigged against Trump. Following his attacks on Democrats, Wood turned the attention towards members of Trump’s own party, including Pence. One Twitter user pressed Wood for an explanation as to how Pence would save the election and then be arrested afterward. Wood responded that the vice president’s arrest would bring in Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to declare Trump, the winner. Wood continued to accuse Pence of treason and described him as a “coward.”
“If Pence is arrested, @SecPompeo will save the election. Pence will be in jail awaiting trial for treason. He will face execution by firing squad. He is a coward & will sing like a bird & confess ALL,” tweeted Wood.
Wood’s lawsuits in an attempt to overturn and disenfranchise the votes from swing states that Trump lost this year were dismissed. This also comes as Pence is to preside over the meeting on January 6 in order to affirm Joe Biden’s election victory. His response is also one of many posts accusing foreign interference in the elections, George Soros, and Bill Gates. Aside from Pence, Wood also claimed that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would be arrested.
His Twitter rant received waves of backlash, with author and attorney Seth Abrahamson responding by questioning Wood’s sanity in the claims he has made. Abrahamson also questioned Trump’s ultimate goals in his crusade against the elections, especially after January 20, when Biden is to be sworn into office.
After having been distant from Republicans’ efforts in objecting to Biden’s win in recent weeks, Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, has announced that the outgoing vice president will “welcome” the objections made by his fellow Republicans. The effort to object will only delay the affirmation of Biden becoming the next president of the United States.
