Donald Trump and Melania Trump were supposed to stay at Mar-a-Lago for a holiday break and attend the annual New Year’s party too. However, it was revealed that the First Couple cut short their trip and headed back together at the White House.
As per CNN News, Donald Trump and the FLOTUS arrived back in Washington on Thursday. The Air Force One flew them from Palm Beach International Airport to the White House, and their decision to suddenly return was said to have something to do with Joe Biden’s upcoming certification of win.
The Republican’s plan against Biden
Based on the report, they flew back ahead of schedule because the Republicans are planning to postpone the certification of Biden's election win, which is set to take place next week when the Congress meets.
The Trumps' sudden return to the White House also created some issues because as they left Florida, it also means that they are not attending the New Year’s party anymore. The problem is that many people already bought tickets to attend the event, and everyone is expecting both Donald Trump and Melania to be there.
It was reported that tickets to the party cost about $1,000. Plus, some of the guests have also arrived for the get-together. Hundreds are expected to attend, just like in the previous years.
Why the First Couple had to abruptly return to the White House
Now, while it has already been assumed that Donald Trump and the FLOTUS left Florida early because of Joe Biden’s certification, Associated Press reported that no reason was given why the president decided to cut his Florida vacation short and ditch the New Year’s party.
At any rate, the Republicans are planning to challenge Joe Biden’s win to keep Donald Trump as America’s president. Some Republicans in the congress will formally raise objections on the affirmation of Biden. They will do this on Jan. 6 when the congress convenes for a joint session.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s return to Washington may also be connected to the rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran. The two countries have warned each other about possible retaliation in case of attack and death of their respective citizens.
