Waltermart Inc. announced an innovative partnership with Expedia Group Inc., extending exclusive travel benefits to its Walmart+ members. The deal allows members access to various travel-related services via the WalmartPlusTravel.com portal, powered by Expedia.
Expedia is an expansive travel company that operates travel fare aggregators and travel metasearch engines, including CheapTickets, Hotels.com, Expedia Cruises, Vrbo, Orbitz, Travelocity, Trivago, Hotwire.com, Ebookers, CarRentals.com, and more. Walmart tapped it for a partnership so it can add travel perks that can be enjoyed by members of its paid subscription service, as per Travel Pulse.
Walmart and Expedia said this collaboration would benefit all Walmart+ members looking to book hotels, tickets, and other travel-related services, such as car rentals. Members must book their trips via WalmartPlusTravel.com, powered by Expedia Group’s White Label Template technology, to enjoy the perks.
This technology will give members access to about 500 airlines, 900,000 properties, 100 car rental services, and countless sightseeing and activities to book worldwide. Moreover, as part of the partnership deal between Walmart and Expedia, all Walmart+ subscribers can access the latter’s end-to-end customer service, such as an AI-powered virtual agent tool for live chats to get replies to any inquiries instantly.
To further sweeten the benefits for Walmart+ members who will book travels, they will be given five percent Walmart Cash on hotels, car rentals, activities bookings, and vacation home rentals. In addition, a two percent Walmart Cash will also be granted on all flight bookings and a combined rate of Walmart Cash for vacation packages.
“We are bringing together the ultimate savings membership and vacation booking site to deliver a first-ever travel-focused benefit for Walmart+ members,” Walmart+ senior vice president and general manager, Venessa Yates, said in a press release. “Combined with our other benefits — including free delivery, streaming and savings on fuel — we’re creating a membership that saves customers time and money, whether they’re at home or having fun at their favorite vacation destination.”
Expedia president for business, Ariane Gorin, added, “We are delighted to launch this collaboration with Walmart, together, we are connecting Walmart’s massive customer base with Expedia Group’s extensive array of travel supply partners from all around the world.”
