Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not favored much by Republicans. A recent Republican-based poll now reveals that Pelosi’s favorable rating among members of the GOP climbed down even further at 38 percent.
The National Republican Congressional Committee released a poll on Pelosi’s favorability among Republicans. The House Speaker’s favorability among Republicans has now climbed further down, less than 40 percent in the past three months. Pelosi had a 41 percent favorability rating back in February.
The NRCC also noted that in the districts that went to Donald Trump during the elections last November, Pelosi had an unfavorability rating of 60 percent. The organization said that the Democrats in those same districts would be facing a challenge to defend their decisions in voting that is in line with Pelosi’s “socialist agenda.”
The pollsters also added that 54 percent of those who responded want to elect a Republican that can serve as a “check and balance” to Pelosi and the agenda of the Democratic party in Congress. However, 41 percent of the respondents said that they want a Democrat who can help Pelosi and the Democrats pass their agenda to Congress to represent them. To compare, a YouGove poll that tracks a politician’s favorability rating weekly showed that Pelosi had a 42 percent favorable rating as of April 17.
As Pelosi also faces mounting pressure to ensure Joe Biden’s proposals pass through Congress, she is also trying to shore up support from House Republicans in the 9/11-type commission that would investigate the Capitol riots. Pelosi was among the targets of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol in an effort to stop certification of Biden’s victory.
Hundreds of rioters have already been arrested by the authorities, one of them in particular, was Richard “Bigo” Barnett, known as the man who sat on Pelosi’s desk. Barnett also left a note for Pelosi saying, “Hey Nancy, Bigo was here bitch.”
Barnett’s lawyers are now arguing that Barnett used the less-offensive version of “bitch,” which was “biatch,” according to a court filing made Friday by Barnett’s attorney, Joseph McBride. McBride claimed that the government is deliberately ignoring the difference between the two to frame Barnett in an effort to deny his bid for bail.
