President Donald Trump has accused former President Barack Obama of disclosing classified information after Obama recently commented on the possibility of aliens. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during a trip to Georgia, Trump claimed Obama revealed sensitive details, saying, “He took it out of classified information… He’s not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake.” However, Trump did not provide evidence to support the allegation.
The controversy began after a podcast interview with host Brian Tyler Cohen, released Saturday, in which Obama addressed questions about extraterrestrial life. When asked whether aliens are real, Obama responded that while he believes life may exist beyond Earth, he has seen no proof of aliens visiting the planet. He also dismissed longstanding conspiracy theories surrounding Area 51, the classified U.S. Air Force facility in Nevada often linked to alien rumors.
“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in Area 51,” Obama said, adding that no underground facility was hidden from the president. He later clarified his remarks in an Instagram post, stating that during his presidency he saw no evidence of extraterrestrials contacting Earth. Obama explained that his belief in alien life is based on the vastness of the universe and the statistical likelihood of life elsewhere, while emphasizing that the odds of aliens traveling to Earth are extremely low.
Area 51, frequently cited in UFO conspiracy theories, was acknowledged by the CIA in 2013 as a testing site for top-secret spy planes. In recent years, the Pentagon has investigated unidentified flying objects, now referred to as UAPs. A 2024 Pentagon report concluded that government investigations since World War II have found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology, with most sightings attributed to ordinary objects or natural phenomena.
When asked directly, Trump said he was unsure whether aliens exist. The White House declined further comment, and Obama’s office has not responded to the claims.
